Ice-Cream Maker Extraordinaire/Co-Owner
About Judy: “My family used to make ice cream for special occasions. I’ve got childhood memories of picnics and family functions. We always made homemade ice cream, so I chose to develop this love. It’s such a fun business. When we opened the store, I was involved in all aspects of the store, but basically I focused in on production. It is so much fun for me—the customer interaction, the process—everything! I love the fact that there are four owners.” Years at Bonnie Brae Ice Cream: 21 years
A Chance Moment: “One year we took a trip to Italy, and we were in Cinque Terre, and in one of the little towns, we struck up a conversation with a family from Lakewood. It was a couple about our age and the son had just graduated from medical school, and we found out he had proposed to his fiancé at Bonnie Brae Ice Cream. To be that far away from home and have a connection like that was wonderful.”
Favorite Flavor: “I’ve always gone nuts over the Banana Walnut, and it reminds me of the ice cream my family used to make. I think the Tiramisu is to die for. And actually I’m nuts for Ginger Spice, too.” |
