Summer has arrived in Denver! That means longer days, warm evenings, and plenty of reasons to stop for ice cream.
Whether you’re wrapping up a day at Wash Park, or looking to cool off after a bike ride, summer has a way of bringing people together over a scoop or two. The patio is a little busier, the line is a little longer, and the neighborhood feels a little more alive.
Summer also brings something else to Bonnie Brae: a new group of scoopers behind the counter!
For decades, we’ve had the privilege of giving neighborhood teens their very first job. It’s one of our favorite parts of what we do, and something we take seriously. Sure, they’re learning how to scoop the perfect cone and ring up your favorite pint, but they’re also learning what it means to be part of a team, how to show up for a shift, how to take pride in their work, and how to treat people well.
Just as importantly, we want them to learn what they should expect from a good workplace: respect, support, clear expectations, and a little bit of fun along the way. Wherever they go on to in their careers, we hope their time here helps set the foundation.
Of course, every seasoned scooper you’ve come to know and love started out right where these new hires are now, figuring out the rhythm, learning the flavors, and mastering the register. So if things take just a moment longer on your next visit, we appreciate your patience and your encouragement. A kind word goes a long way when you’re on your first few shifts!
So come on in, enjoy the sunshine, and help us give a warm welcome to the next generation of Bonnie Brae scoopers.
